I Want To Live

National Film & Television School Graduation Film

The voice of science and lived experience come together in this explorative, raw documentary, uncovering years of personal diary entries and archive footage of a strong young woman, Mallory Smith, navigating an equally strong illness.

Through cutting-edge research across the globe, a fight for the health of humanity rests on the shoulders of the curious and open minds in medicine and those impacted most. It’s a race against time to find new armour to defend ourselves against AMR - Antimicrobial Resistance, that is claiming more lives than ever before.

Dynamic recreations, macro camerawork, electron microscopy and microscopic timelapse photography capture the essence of evolutionary change, with audio recordings, soundscapes and an emotive soundtrack. An issue taken too lightly in the past, this film urges you to be open and advocate for holistic, nature-based approaches to medicine. Why wouldn’t you try something, if you had the hope of saving a life?

This film is available to watch through the NFTS Showcase website.
